Nigerian Super Eagles having nice dinner after beating Congo 2-0

Nigerian Super Eagles this evening has revealed their strength and shown a quick recovery from their poor perfomance in previous matches by defeating their Congolese counterpart.

The Nigerian super stars displayed good effort in a 2-0 win match to get them closer to qualifying for the 2015 African Cup of Nations taking place next year.

Though, The first half of the match ended 0-0 for both teams but during second half, Nigerian star, Ikechukwu Uche converted a penalty. 15 minutes to end of the match, Aaron Samuel scored a goal to seal the winning, leaving the Super eagles ahead of the Congolese.

At least after such hardwork and great effort on the field, the stars certainly need to cool off and have good time. Proud of you guys!!!!

I never knew my hunky boyfriend was born a girl but now we plan to start a family

Charlotte Urie, 20, had no clue that buff Kieran Moloney had not always been a boy, and they are planning her pregnancy

Madly in love and convinced she had found the perfect man, one woman was shocked to learn her boyfriend's deepest secret - he was born a GIRL.

And it is not difficult to see how Charlotte Urie, 20, had no clue that her handsome new beau, Kieran Moloney was born a female called Ciara.

With his chiselled jawline and bulging biceps Kieran would not look out of place on a Hollywood red carpet.

For years the 23-year-old kept his sex-swap a secret, until he met Charlotte in 2012.

Despite the shocking revelation, the couple are stronger than ever, and are now hoping to get married and start a family -using Kieran's best friend as a sperm donor.

Charlotte, a barista from Camden, London, says: "I would never have guessed Kieran's secret, but as soon as he told me he'd been born a girl it didn't matter to me. I was surprised, but I love him for who he is and see him as a man.

"He's very masculine and has a great body, but he's also my best friend. I never had any concerns about dating someone transgender. Biology doesn't matter."

Kieran, originally from New Zealand, but now living in London, says: "When I first met Charlotte I was blown away by her beauty, but I was terrified of how she'd react if she found out I used to be a girl. I needed to know I could trust her, before I revealed my secret.

"Other girlfriends have been ashamed of who I am, but when I told Charlotte, she was so accepting.

Kieran added: "So many girlfriends before had been embarrassed by me and I didn't want any more rejection. I felt such a connection to Charlotte I didn't want her to end the relationship. So when she reacted like it was nothing, I felt so relieved. Finally I met someone who liked me for me."

Kieran has been living as a man for seven years and after having a double mastectomy at 20, finally feels comfortable in his own skin.

He was unhappy with his gender aged four, and had no interest in girlie things - bursting into tears if his Mum put him in a dress.

When Kieran started primary school, he became a target for bullies. And when puberty hit, the teenager's confusing feelings escalated.

He said: "I hated seeing my breasts develop and I was jealous of the boys at school when their voices dropped and they started shaving. I hated being a girl."

He says: "I started taking hormone tablets which lowered my voice and gave me more body hair. I loved the changes."

Kieran's family supported him and his mum Bronagh Moloney, 49, a nurse, began calling him her son.

By 17, fine hairs started to grow on Kieran's face and with a rigorous gym workout, Kieran's body was transforming into a man's.

In November 2009, aged 18, Kieran started monthly testosterone injections and, two years later, had a £5k double mastectomy, paid for by his mum.

He remembers: "When I saw the results I felt euphoric. I finally had a man's upper body, something I'd only dreamed about."

Smitten Charlotte said: "Kieran's my soulmate and we'd be the best parents. We'll explain his background to our kids when they're old enough they'll have two loving parents, that's the most important thing.

Two kidney transplant patients die after receiving new organs infected with PARASITIC WORM

Darren Hughes and Robert Stuart died less than three weeks after what they believed would be life-saving surgery

Tragic: Jim Stuart and Darren Hughes are among only five other similar cases across the world

Darren Hughes, 42, and Robert 'Jim' Stuart, 67, were given the kidneys from a transplant donor who was carrying the deadly worm in his organs when he died.

Health chiefs confirmed the "unique and tragic case" is being investigated after both patients died within three weeks of the kidney transplants.

Doctors were not aware the donor had the worm - known as Halicephalobus which lives in soil and is found in horses - when the transplant operations were carried at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Mr Stuart and Mr Hughes began to "deteriorate rapidly" after their surgery and died less than three weeks later.

The two men are among only five cases ever recorded across the world - and all have died from the worm infection.

Their families are now taking legal action and an inquest is due to be held next week into their deaths.

Their solicitor Julie Lewis said: "The families are both desperately seeking answers as to how these tragedies could have happened and what measures should have been taken to ensure the patients safety.

"They have serious concerns about the information they have heard so far about what happened and hope that the inquest will provide them with answers to the many questions they have about the circumstances leading up to the deaths."

Adulterous wife had disabled husband murdered, then rewarded killers with a THREESOME

Joanna Grabowski 30 met caring Piotr 42 while he was a member of the Catholic aid charity Caritas – a group that was financially supporting the mum and her five children.

They married a short while later and despite Piotr becoming a stepfather to her children, Joanna began seeing other people.

It was then she told her husband, who was confined to a wheelchair, that she had met another man and wanted to bring him to the family home.

Piotr refused leaving scheming Joanna to arrange for her lover Pawalak, 42, and his pal Kaminski, 31, to murder her husband.

Charity: Piotr worked for charities to help less fortunate people get a better life

The pair struck when the charity worker went out to a nearby park one day for some fresh air.

Joanna called the men, who were waiting in a bush, on her mobile phone and told them her husband was coming.

As tragic Piotr came past, the two men leapt out, dragged their terrified victim from his wheelchair and strangled him with a belt.

A court in Poland was told how Joanna then invited the men back to the house, while her husband lay dead in the park.

Threesome: Lukasz Kaminski and Jacek Pawlak were allegedly rewarded with a sordid sex session

Piotr’s body was discovered by passers-by who noticed his empty chair and found him lying dead close-by.

The trio’s plot was unravelled by police who poured through phone records before finally extracting a confession.

Joanna was jailed for 25 years and her five children have been taken into care.

Pawalak and Kaminski will be sentenced after pending reports.

The jet was carrying Dr. Myles Munroe and his wife, Ruth, according to Kelley Jackson, a spokeswoman from the Andrew J. Young Foundation. Munroe, 60, was a pastor and motivational speaker, the founder of Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship. Ruth served as co-senior pastor.

Senior vice president and pastor Richard Pinder also died in the crash, ABC News has learned.

Members of Munroe’s organization sobbed and wailed when they learned of the crash.

The group was traveling to the Bahamas to attend a Global Leadership Forum arranged by Munroe. That event will continue, according to a statement posted to Munroe’s Facebook page.

“This is what Dr. Munroe would have wanted,” it said. “Please keep his family and the ministry in prayers.”

William M. Wilson, the president of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Munroe was a student and later adjunct professor, released a statement after Munroe’s death.

“His energy and enthusiasm for imparting Spirit Empowered Christianity to new generations was contagious,” Wilson said in the statement.

A representative of the Bahamas Air accident investigation and prevention unit confirmed the crash to ABC News, but declined to identify the victims.

The cause of the crash is still unknown.

Army denies report of Boko Haram attack on Nyako’s convoy, kills 13 terrorist

The Nigerian Army Friday refuted reports that Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State was attacked by  terrorists  and that more terrorists have been arrested while 13 of them died following a raid on their make-shift camp sited between Borno and Adamawa states.

The army in a statement signed by Major General Chris Olukolade,
Director Defence Information, said that some of those who escaped from earlier raid have also been picked up in Maiduguri and environs.

Gov. Nyako
Meanwhile, calm has returned to Shuwa after the pandemonium generated by the panic in the community this morning when people sighted the convoy of troops going after terrorists and mistook it for another round of attack.

The statement said the alleged attack on the convoy of Governor Nyako as presented in a breaking news report were not true.    The truth is that the Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako visited Michika and Shuwa areas of the State to sympathise with the communities that were attacked by terrorists recently. While returning, the convoy came across a noticeable pandemonium which resulted from the alarm raised by some people who had mistaken a convoy movement of troops on patrol at Kirchinga village, for another impending attack by terrorists.

In the ensuing stampede and confusion, people scampered into the bush ostensibly to escape from those mistaken for terrorists.

The incident which was presented as a “Breaking News” and scrolled on TV is therefore not a true reflection of what actually happened.  The report is capable of causing unnecessary anxiety and heightening tension.

The military authorities therefore find it necessary to put the records straight and call on residents to go about their normal activities while remaining vigilant.  The operations in the North East are being consolidated and every effort is made to stop the terrorists from continuing their atrocities in that part of the country.

Abductors of Jonathan’s cousin demand N500m ransom

The kidnappers of Chief Inengite Nitabai, cousin to President Goodluck Jonathan, have demanded the sum of N500m ransom to set him free.

Nitabai, aged 70, was abducted last Sunday by ten armed men at his Otuoke residence in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State and taken away in his private Sports Utitlity Vehicle after collecting N400,000 from his wife.

The vehicle was later recovered at Unuegbum  waterfront where it was abandoned, an indication that the gunmen escaped through the creek.
The victim, his wife, his wife’s sister and three of his children were in the house when the gunmen struck.

But that respite it was learnt came the way of the family when the kidnappers contacted them to make the ransom demand Thursday.

It was learnt that the outrageous demand unsettled the family members who had since resorted to prayers for divine intervention.

Though his children had declined media enquiries on the matter so as not to jeopardize police efforts,  and the abductors have threatened to kill their victim if the family failed to accede to their demand.

The kidnappers contacted the family four days after and demanded a whooping sum of N500m. It is believed that the family of the victim has begun negotiations with the hoodlums.

Angry Husband Posts Provocative Pictures Of Wife All Over Town After They Split

A 46 year old man Ian Cuthbert, was said to be in an "extreme state" when he put up the fliers believing his wife Alison had been in a relationship with another man

Angry Cuthbert had posted some provocative poster of his wife on lamposts and outside a school.

The 46 year old admitted posting raunchy pictures of his wife in her underwear all over their local town after the relationship ended. He went further posting fliers on a school noticeboard, trees and lamppost which included a picture of 34-year-old Alison Kidd and the caption "Lock Up Your Husbands".

"Married and committing adultery within days" it added.

Cuthbert posted them in an "extreme state" last September – just six months after the couple wed – after hearing allegations that his wife had been in a relationship with another man, a court heard.

The couple only wed in March last year
Staff arriving at the school on the outskirts of Edinburgh collected them before the children became aware of them.

Nursery assistant Alison was told about the posters by friends and contacted police.

Yesterday, a sheriff told twisted Cuthbert, of Broxburn, West Lothian, that what he had done was “really a form of assault”.

Cuthbert pleaded guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to distributing offensive pictures of his wife.

Couple jailed for killing their baby with strict diet because of their religious beliefs

Five-month-old Ndingeko Kunene died of the disease, because his parents believed God would guide the family when it came to any matter that affected life

Extreme beliefs: Nkosiyapha and Virginia Kunene
The parents of a five-month old baby have been jailed after he died from RICKETS because of his poor diet.

Nkosiyapha Kunene, 36, and Virginia Kunene, 32, were sentenced to three years, and two years and three months respectively at the Old Bailey today for manslaughter.

Mr Justice Singh said: "The secular courts of this country apply the secular law of the land. They do so equally to all who come before them. The law respects the right of everyone to freedom of thought and belief.

"However the right to manifest one's religion is not absolute. It is limited in particular by the rights of others. The state has a particularly important duty to protect the right to life, especially when a young child is concerned."The couple, of Carlton Road, Erith, Kent, admitted the charge at earlier hearings.

The judge said Ndingeko was born on January 1 2012 and died in June 14 that year.

He was found to have been suffering from rickets resulting from severe Vitamin D deficiency.

The court heard the child was born at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford.

From birth, he had medical problems, and the judge said it was emphasised on behalf of the couple that the vitamin D deficiency was not diagnosed at that stage, nor was Virginia Kunene given advice about taking supplements.

The mother did not attend a scheduled check up on March 8 and Ndingeko was not seen by a health care professional from then on to the day he died.

Four youths arraigned for stealing cows

Four cattle rustlers, Danjuma Yale 28, Samuel Manpin 24, Silvanus Danwesh 25, and Pansum Dungse, 27, were on Friday arraigned in an upper Area Court, Jos, over alleged conspiracy and theft of 10 cows.

The cows belong to one, Malam Yakubu Musa of Gindiri village in Mangu Local Government Area.

The four accused persons who reside at Mangu Local Government headquarters in Plateau, appeared before Malam Mustapha Hassan on a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Edwin Ochei, had told the court that the accused persons conspired and stole the 10 cows.

Ochei said that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 7, at about 2 p.m. while the owner of the cows was away.

“The accused conspired and snatched the 10 cows from the small boy to whom the owner entrusted the cows before he left for his trip.

“When the owner of the cows came back from his trip on Feb. 8 he found that the cows had been stolen, and he reported the matter to the police in Mangu town.

“The cows were later traced to the house of one, Dahiru Bello who has bought some of them at the cost of N225, 000.

“Some of the cows were also traced to the town’s abattoir in the hands of butchers that have already slaughtered them,“ the prosecutor said.

Ochei said that during police investigation it was discovered that the accused persons were those who stole the cows and sold them out.

Surgeon 'told patient to man up and stop screaming like a girl' following blood clot operation

42 year old Qasim Abbasali, who had undergone a surgery in a certain hospital said he was still in pain 24 hours after the operation at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester.

Qasim Abbasali revealed a surgeon had told him to stop screaming like a girl. He was told to "man up" and "stop screaming like a girl" when he was left in agony following surgery.

Father-of-three Qasim Abbasali, 42, from Didsbury, South Manchester, said he was in pain for 24 hours after the operation at Wythenshawe Hospital where he was being treated after an abscess burst.

The letting agent said he asked for more pain relief when the morphine started to wear off but a nurse told him he would have to wait for the surgeon who performed the operation.

He claimed the nurse told him he was on a 15-hour shift and had to eat when he woke up in agony "begging for painkillers", according to the Manchester Evening News.

However, when the consultant saw him 24 hours later, Mr Abbasali said: “He told me to 'man up and stop screaming like a girl'. His exact words. He told me to lie on my side.

"When I did this he ripped the dressing out. This was probably the most painful experience of my life. I’ve broken my shoulder before that was painful of course but not like this.”

Mr Abbasali also said the surgeon asked his wife Fozia, 40, if she could speak English.

"It’s ridiculous," he said. "Just because someone has brown skin doesn’t mean that they can’t speak English. I am of Indian origin but I am born and bred in Manchester.

“We are intelligent people and understand that the Government is making a lot of cuts to the NHS but this is not our fault. I am absolutely disgusted at the way I was treated and want an assurance from the hospital that this won’t happen to anyone else.”

Burglar Sentenced to 32 Years Jail For Stabbing Pensioner 22 Times

- Parkinson

21 year old Aaron De Silva, had stabbed a 73 year old pensioner Joseph Griffiths, after he is believed to have been disturbed during a burglary and entering.

Aaron Da Silva has been jailed for 32 years for stabbing and killing a pensioner to death after breaking into his home.

The burglar stabbed Joseph Griffiths 22 times and he was found by his wife and a friend in a pool of blood following the "completely brutal and overwhelming assault" in November 2012.

He admitted manslaughter but was found guilty at the Old Bailey of murdering the 73-year old.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the 21-year-old, of Earls Court, south west London, was also sentenced to 12 years to run consecutively after admitting aggravated burglary armed with a lock knife.

It is believed Mr Griffiths interrupted De Silva and challenged him after he woke up during the burglary at his home in Fulham, South West London, early that morning.

A post-mortem examination found the businessman, who had two grown-up sons and seven grandchildren, died of multiple stab wounds.

After the attack De Silva was caught on CCTV taking a "cool, calm and collected walk" back to the Earls Court hostel where he was staying to wash his clothes and get rid of evidence.

Footage of him at the hostel about an hour after the murder showed him listening to music, seemingly entirely unaffected by what he had just done.

He was arrested at the Opendoor Housing Trust Hostel three days later.

The court heard that on the morning of November 10, De Silva went into a number of gardens on Hazlebury Road before stealing a pair of bolt croppers from an unlocked garden shed.

Using the tool, he broke a rear window on the basement level of Mr Griffiths' nearby six-storey terraced home and walked around the lower two levels before launching the fatal attack.

Mr Griffiths had been sleeping in a separate bedroom from his wife Judy on the ground floor of the home they had lived in for 50 years while family friends, who were visiting for a wedding, slept on the second floor.

A victim impact statement by his eldest son Mark Griffiths, 53, was previously read out to the court.

"The murder of Joe in such a senseless manner has left a gaping hole not just in our family, but every family who knew him," it said.

"We as a family are living with the devastating consequences of that act of violence."

The court head De Silva has 31 previous convictions from the age of 12 to his arrest for the murder at the age of 19, for matters such as robbery, burglary and carrying a knife.

In 2002, the trial judge, Timothy Pontius, sentenced De Silva's father Emmanuel De Silva to 24 years' imprisonment for robbery.

Court reports at the time said he was part of a gang that was responsible for a number of well planned and executed robberies in the London area between January 2000 and May 2001 and that Emmanuel's nephew, Orson De Silva, was jailed for 24 years for similar offences.

Investigating officer detective inspector Simon Pickford, of the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "De Silva is an extremely violent individual who had no hesitation in stabbing the victim repeatedly in a frenzied and brutal attack after he was disturbed having broken into Mr Griffiths' home.

"I must pay tribute to Mr Griffiths' family who have been left utterly devastated by what happened. They have conducted themselves with the utmost restraint and dignity throughout this tragic incident and my and my team's thoughts are with them."

Love Birds Katy Perry and John Mayer Break Up

American Singer Katy Perry and lover John Mayer have decided to call it a quit according to report.

29 year old Katy Perry is believed to have called it a quit on her relationship with her 36 year old man in the 'last few days'.

E! News quoted a source as telling them that the pair's romance has come to an end, but said no other details have been revealed.

However, the website also noted that John was noticeably absent from Katy's recent trips to London, where she performed at the BRIT Awards, and Milan.

She is understood to have returned to her Los Angeles home on Friday.

Katy has made no reference to the reported split on her Twitter page, instead choosing to tweet about her Prismatic world tour.

it's not the first time the couple have broken up, since they first started dating in 2012.

They had a brief break-up last March before later reconciling.

Following the short split, John said when questioned about the romance: 'It was a very private relationship going in.

'It was a private relationship during and it's a private relationship still.'

Deeper Life General Overseer reinstates son as Pastor after long suspension

The General overseer of Deeper Life Church has reinstated his son John Kumuyi after 7 months of suspension for staging what the church regarded as 'an extravagant wedding' and the bride wearing make up and a fitted wedding dress at their June 2013 Jamaica wedding.

Pastor Kumuyi and elders of the Deeper Life church have forgiven the young couple John Kumuyi and his wife and he has been reinstated back into the pastoral arm where he can also preach on the church pulpit.

Robin Thicke and wife Paula Patton Split After Long Relationship

American singer and ‘Sexist of the Year 2013’ Robin Thicker has seperated with his soul mate Paula Patton.

Robin had said in a revealing poll in December – had previously claimed that the song 'Brits Don't Get Blurred Lines' had been written about his wife, Paula Patton, and therefore couldn’t possibly be promoting an unhealthy attitude towards sex and consent.

He revealed in January about Paula "She's my good girl," "And I know she wants it because we've been together for 20 years."

But it seems he’s fresh out of spurious justifications, as the couple have announced their plans to separate after nine years of marriage.

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," they said in a joint statement to People magazine yesterday.

The news will come as no surprise to many – their relationship has long been the subject of split rumours, ever since Thicke released his NSFW accompanying video to "Blurred Lines", which featured topless models bouncing about in front of balloons that spelled out the phrase ‘Robin Thicke has a big d**k’.

Then there was the performance that can’t be unseen with Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMA awards, where he dressed up like Beetlejuice to undergo several minutes of twerking and sex simulation with the young star.

And that’s before a female member of his entourage claimed she’d been groped by the singer, and that he had asked her for sex – an allegation categorically denied by Thicke, who responded to the reports by saying this about Patton to Prestige magazine:

"I don’t know if I would still be alive in some ways if it wasn’t for Paula. She’s been my rock, my muse, my inspiration and I love her. The whole way."
But it seems months of media scrutiny have taken its toll on the romance.

Thicke and Patton met when they were teenagers and began dating at the tender age of 16. They were married in 2005, and welcomed their first son, Julian, in 2010.

Super Eagles Striker Kalu Uche and Wife Welcome a Baby Boy

Nigeria International Striker Kalu Uche and his wife, an ex-beauty queen Stephanie Uche welcomed a baby boy yesterday.

The couple is said to have been married in 2011 and welcomed a daughter in October of the same year.

Its a good and happy moment for the couple and their relatives. Big congratulation to these love birds, I am happy for them.

Man Sentenced to 12 Years Jail for stabbing adulterous wife while asleep

38 year old Oluwabusayo Abegunde was found him guilty of grevious bodily harm – and he has now been jailed for 12 years at Manchester Crown Square.

The court heard Abegunde, who makes a living running businesses in Nigeria, had been left ‘humiliated’ by his wife of ten years’ infidelity and sought revenge when she told him the marriage was over.

Sentencing, judge Honourable Mr Justice Kenneth Parker told Abegunde: “An attack of this nature upon a young woman and mother would cause psychological harm in the short and possible longer term.

38 year old Oluwabusayo Abegunde who had discovered his wife had been going out drinking and clubbing with another man after looking at photos and messages on her Blackberry, jealously and repeatedly stabbed his wife after finding out she was having an affair from her phone.

He launched the savage knife attack just two days after Valentine’s Day as wife Esther Abegunde, 33, lay asleep. She had earlier told him their marriage was over and moved into the spare room.

The wounds punctured his wife’s left lung, partially severed a tendon in her right wrist and left her with other wounds to her chest and arm.

As she began to bleed to death Abegunde only agreed to call an ambulance after making her promise she would tell police and doctors she had inflicted the wounds on herself.

He also offered to kill himself – but only made a small cut in his own chest with the knife before emergency services arrived.

Five Crushed To Death in Lagos Accident

At least five people lost their lives along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in Lagos  after a truck ran into some bystanders on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the bystanders were on the Oshodi Oke bridge when the vehicle ran them over.

It was learnt that over seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The accident, expectedly, caused a gridlock for hours as officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, led by Commander Koleosho, raced to the scene to save lives.

It was learnt that LASTMA officials worked at the scene for over three hours in a bid to ensure traffic flow.

It was learnt that the petroleum truck sped off after crushing the victims.

An emergency official said, “Around 7.45, a petrol tanker coming from Anthony inward Mile 2, crushed five bystanders along Oshodi Oke bridge to death.

“The truck also injured over seven others. Most of the dead victims had crushed skulls but we were able to evacuate their bodies.

“A woman we even rescued died on the way to the hospital. It is really pathetic and the driver did not also stop.

“We don’t know if the accident was caused by a sleeping driver or brake failure but we are warning people not to stand on that bridge as there is no busstop there.”

Five illegal miners found dead in South Africa

South African Police has reported on Wednesday in Johannesburg that the bodies of five illegal miners had been found laid near an abandoned mine in western Johannesburg.

Anambra State Tribunal Clears Governor-Elect Willie Obiano

Governor-elect of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, on Tuesday has been cleared when the Governorship Election Tribunal ruled that it could not entertain issues relating to his alleged involvement in multiple registration.

The tribunal also struck out the petition of Dr. Chike Obidigbo, who is contesting the All Progressives Grand Alliance ticket with Obiano at the tribunal.

While Obiano emerged on the ticket of the Victor Umeh-led faction of APGA’s ticket, the Maxi Okwu-led faction produced Obidigbo.

The tribunal held in its ruling on application of Obiano, praying the tribunal to strike out aspects of the petition, including the paragraph on the said multiple registration, filed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Tony Nwoye, that the issues of multiple registration had already been determined by a High Court in the state, which bars the tribunal from reopening the matter.

The panel said the Electoral Act stated that multiple registration was not a criminal offence and in the case of Obiano, he had not been convicted of the offence, and therefore, it could not be used against him.

It said that supplying false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission was not enough to disqualify a person from contesting for an elective position unless a court disqualified the individual.

But the tribunal ruled that apart from the issue of time limitation catching with the applicant, Obidigbo was nowhere found in any of the bodies of all the petitions before the tribunal.

Oldest Holocaust survivor Alice Herz-Sommer dies at 110

Alice Herz-Sommer, the oldest known survivor of the Holocaust and possibly the world’s oldest pianist, has died in London at the age of 110.

Alice had`passed away peacefully’ on Sunday with members of her family by her side, her grandson said.

Born in Prague, Herz-Sommer and her son were sent to the Nazi concentration camp of Terezin, or Theresienstadt, in what is now the Czech Republic, during World War II.

A renowned concert pianist before the war, she gave performances during her incarceration in Terezin and played her favourite Bach and Beethoven pieces for hours every day until her death.
“Music saved my life and music saves me still,’’ she was fond of saying, according to the makers of “The Lady In Number 6’’, a documentary about her life which has been nominated for this year’s Academy Award.

Alice grew up in a privileged German-speaking, Czech-Jewish family, and was a playmate of the writer Franz Kafka as a child, according to the film’s website.
But her world was turned upside down by the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Nazi Germany in 1939.

She lost both her mother and husband in the Holocaust, and when she returned to Prague after the war she found nothing left of her previous life. In spite of that, Herz-Sommer insisted that she had never hated the Nazis. “I have lived through many wars and have lost everything many times – including my husband, my mother and my beloved son.
“Yet, life is beautiful, and I have so much to learn and enjoy. I have neither space nor time for pessimism and hate,’’ she said.

Herz-Sommer and her son, Raffi, emigrated to Israel where she taught at the Music Academy and then became a successful cellist.
When he moved to England, she emigrated once more, this time to London, in order to be closer to him and her grandchildren.

He died before her, but she always remained grateful for the life she had had.
“I think I am in my last days, but it doesn’t really matter because I have had such a beautiful life,’’ she told the documentary makers.

“And life is beautiful, love is beautiful, nature and music are beautiful. Everything we experience is a gift, a present we should cherish and pass on to those we love.’’

Uganda President Museveni Signs Harsh Anti Gay-bill

Uganda's president Yoweri Museveni has signed a controversial anti-gay bill today that allows life sentences to be handed out for homosexual offenses.

A government spokesman said President Yoweri Museveni wanted to assert Uganda's 'independence in the face of Western pressure'.

The bill is popular in Uganda, but rights groups have condemned it as draconian in a country where homosexuality is already illegal.

The law punishes first-time offenders with 14 years in jail. It also sets life imprisonment as the penalty for acts of 'aggravated homosexuality'.

That offence is defined to include repeated sex among consenting adults as well as sex acts involving minors or a partner infected with HIV.

The bill originally proposed the death penalty for some homosexual acts, but that was later removed amid international criticism.

U.S. President Barack Obama has urged Museveni not to sign the bill, saying doing so would 'complicate' the east African country's relationship with Washington.

President Museveni said in a statement released on Friday that countries 'should relate with each other on the basis of mutual respect and independence.'

Nigera Police threatens to confiscate tinted glass vehicles

Commissioner of Police for FCT, Joseph Mbu has  ordered owners of tinted vehicles without approval to remove them from the road within 24 hours  or face the wrath of the law.

He has also warned drivers of vehicles without number plates to park their cars at home or risk having them impounded, noting that unregistered vehicles would not be permitted to ply Abuja roads.

In an interview on Monday in Abuja Joseph Mbu said that he has reviewed the security strategy in the FCT, adding that new measures would be put in place to protect travellers on the Abuja-Gwagwalada Expressway.

Mbu went further saying, “Nobody should be found driving a vehicle without number plates or with tinted glasses without the approval of the IG; we are going to enforce this law as from Wednesday. Also hawkers are banned from coming to the city area to hawk as well as keke napep.

“Am appealing to you to respect the law, we are expecting some international dignitaries for the Centenary celebration and it wont portray us well before the world to see us this way.”

The police boss noted that the police command would not condone hidden or sealed vehicle number plates, stressing that all vehicles must have clearly designated number plates issued by the Federal Road Safety Corps.

FG Closes Nigeria-Cameroon Border

The Federal Government of Nigeria has sealed its northern border with Cameroon in an effort to shut out Boko Haram terrorists using its neighbour as a launchpad for attacks.

The closure extends from Borno State, by Lake Chad, to the southern end of Adamawa State, around halfway along Nigeria’s 1,500-mile border with Cameroon.

A statement issued by the Commandant 23 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier-General Rogers Ibe Nicholas said that the closure is meant to effectively curtail the activities of the insurgents.

Borno and Adamawa states are covered by a State of Emergency that President Goodluck Jonathan declared last May as part of an offensive meant to crush the Boko Haram sect.

“To effectively curtail the activities of the insurgents, the Cameroon border in the northeast has been closed indefinitely,” Brigadier-General Rogers Ibe Nicholas said in a statement.

The Islamists, whose struggle for an Islamic state in northern Nigeria has killed thousands and made them the biggest threat to security in Africa’s top oil producer, are currently based in the hilly Gwoza area next to Cameroon.

Nigerian security officials say they often launch deadly attacks then flee over the border to avoid being pursued.

They killed more than 200 people in two attacks last week on villages, prompting renewed criticisms that military action has failed to neutralize them.

Uganda President Museveni replies Obama on Anti-gay bill

President Museveni has reacted in his report to Obama's complaint about the Uganda Anti-gay bill that it will complicate the east African country's relationship with washington.

The report is below....

I have seen the statement President Obama of the USA made in reaction to my statement that I was going to sign the anti-homosexual Bill, which I made at Kyankwanzi.

Before I react to Obama’s statement, let me, again, put on record my views on the issue of homosexuals (ebitiingwa, bisiyaga in some of our dialects). Right from the beginning of this debate, my views were as follows:

• I agreed with the MPs and almost all Ugandans that promotion of homosexuality in Uganda must be criminalized or rather should continue to be criminalized because the British had already done that;

• those who agreed to become homosexuals for mercenary reasons (prostitutes) should be harshly punished as should those who paid them to be homosexual prostitutes; and • exhibitionism of homosexual behavior must be punished because, in this  part of the world, it is forbidden to publicly exhibit any sexual conduct (kissing, etc) even for heterosexuals; if I kissed my wife of 41 years in public, I would lose elections in Uganda.

The only point I disagreed on with some of the Members of Parliament (MPs)and other Ugandans was on the persons I thought were born homosexual. According to the casual observations, there are rare deviations in nature from the normal. You witness cases like albinos (nyamagoye), barren women or men (enguumba), epa (breastless women) etc.

I, therefore, thought that similarly there were people that were born with the disorientation of being attracted to the same sex. That is why I  thought that it was wrong to punish somebody on account of being born abnormal. That is why I refused to sign the Bill and, instead, referred it to our Party (the NRM) to debate it again.

In the meantime, I sought for scientific opinions on this matter. I am grateful to Ms. Kerry Kennedy of the USA who sent me opinions by scientists from the USA saying that there could be some indications that homosexuality could be congenital. In our conference, I put these opinions to our scientists from the Department of Genetics, the School of Medicine and the Ministry of Health.

Their unanimous conclusion was that homosexuality, contrary to my earlier thinking, was behavioural and not genetic. It was learnt and could be unlearnt. I told them to put their signatures to that conclusion which they did. That is why I declared my intention to sign the Bill, which I will do.

I have now received their signed document, which says there is no single gene that has been traced to cause homosexuality. What I want them to clarify is whether a combination of genes can cause anybody to be homosexual. Then my task will be finished and I will sign the Bill.

After my statement to that effect which was quoted widely around the world, I got reactions from some friends from outside Africa. Statements like: “it is a matter of choice” or “whom they love” which President Obama repeated in his statement would be most furiously rejected by almost the entirety of our people.

It cannot be a matter of choice for a man to behave like a woman or vice-versa. The argument I had pushed was that there could be people who are born like that or “who they are”, according to President Obama’s statement. I, therefore, encourage the US government to help us by working with our scientists to study whether, indeed, there are people who are born homosexual. When that is proved, we can review this legislation.

I would be among those who will spearhead that effort. That is why I had refused to sign the Bill until my premise was knocked down by the position of our Scientists. I would like to discourage the USA government from taking the line that passing this law will “complicate our valued relationship” with the USA as President Obama said. Countries and societies should relate with each other on the basis of mutual respect and independence in decision making.
“Valued relationship” cannot be sustainably maintained by one Society being subservient to another society. There are myriad acts the societies in the West do that we frown on or even detest. We, however, never comment on those acts or make them preconditions for working with the West.

Africans do not seek to impose their views on anybody. We do not want anybody to impose their views on us. This very debate was provoked by  Western groups who come to our schools and try to recruit children into homosexuality. It is better to limit the damage rather than exacerbate it.
I thank everybody.

Yoweri K. Museveni Gen. (Rtd) is president of Uganda

48 year old Man arraigned for killing teenager

A 48 year old man who allegedly shot at a carload of teenage pranksters, killing a cheerleader, has been charged with murder in the US state of Arkansas.

Willie Noble had revealed to the police he only opened fire to scare the Little Rock youngsters after his car was covered with eggs, mayonnaise and toilet paper.

The 15 year old victim Adrian Broadway, was shot in the head and died in Saturday’s incident.

The teenagers allegedly targeted Noble as tit-for-tat after a similar prank by his child, said police.

“Noble’s child allegedly had done a prank to some of the kids on Halloween,” Little Rock police lieutenant Sidney Allen told a local radio station.

“As a friendly feud they went over there to do some pranks on [the Nobles'] house.”

Noble allegedly opened fire on the car of seven people, aged 14 to 18, as they drove back past his home later.

Broadway, who had a gunshot wound to the head, was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Another occupant of the car reportedly received minor injuries from broken glass.

Noble faces a first-degree murder charge, as well as five counts of aggravated assault and one count of committing a terroristic act, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports.

Obasanjo Reveals He Is Still a Card-Carrying Member of PDP

Nigeria former President Olusegun Obasanjo  has revealed on Tuesday that he still remains a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The former President had made this remark shortly after inaugurating some projects of the Rivers State Government in various parts of the state, and also reacted to claims that his visit to Rivers State demonstrated his endorsement of the All Progressives Congress.

Amaechi was among the governors elected on the platform of the PDP that recently defected to the APC.

The former President said he had always been confronted with the question of whether he was still a member of the PDP.

He said, “I say and I repeat. I was in London, the same question was asked. I am a card-carrying member of the PDP. How else do you speak English?”

Obasanjo, who inaugurated some projects executed by the Governor Rotimi Amaechi administration, decried the controversy surrounding the ongoing monorail project in the state.

The ex-President pointed out that those criticising the monorail project would appreciate it at its completion, adding that Rivers State had the capacity to operate the project with the generation of 700 megawatts of electricity.

Obasanjo said, “If any good thing  you are doing has no opposition, then try and take a second look at it. The Eiffel Tower, which is the landmark and a reference point for the French today; when it was being built, some people said the man who built it should be killed.

“It means all good things must have some opposition and that is why I told the governor yesterday (Monday) that to thyself (yourself) and to thy (your) God be true. Many people will not know what it is or how it is, but when they come to know, they will say well done.

“I saw it. I must confess my ignorance, I didn’t know that it was something of that extent. When I saw it, I said the only state that can do that now with the deficit of power that we have is Rivers because the state generates well over 700 megawatts of electricity and it can dedicate 20 or 25 megawatts to that monorail.”

On whether he wants the PDP to retain the Presidency in 2015, Obasanjo said, “It is not a question for now.”

Car Bomb Explosion Kills 50 in Iraq

50 people have been confirmed dead in a wave of car bombs in the Iraqi cities of Baghdad and Hilla, officials told BBC.

The blasts come a day after at least 23 people were killed in bomb explosions in the Iraqi capital.

Last month, more than 1,000 people were killed in attacks which mostly hit Shia and government targets.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, but in the past Sunni militant groups have targeted Shia areas.

Medical sources in Hilla say the main hospital has so far received 35 bodies from seven car bombings.

In the capital Baghdad, bombs in mainly Shia districts killed at least 14 people.

In one attack, a bomb inside a parked vehicle exploded near a bus station in the capital’s Bayaa district, killing five people, sources said.

Police say all Tuesday’s attacks were caused by cars parked in or near commercial areas and bus stations, reports the Associated Press news agency.

Woman Sentenced to Life Jail for killing of Friend and Cutting Baby Off her Womb

A Massachusetts woman Julie Corey who is found guilty in the first-degree murder of her pregnant friend has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, according to Worcester Superior Court.

35 year old Corey at the time of the crime, was convicted in 2009. She was found to have bludgeoned and strangled her friend, Darlene Haynes, 23, before cutting the baby from the victim’s womb.

23 year old Darlene Haynes’ body was found in her apartment on July 27, 2009. She was eight months pregnant at the time of her death.

Days after the murder, Haynes’ baby was found with Corey in New Hampshire.

DNA evidence and a fingerprint on a bottle at the crime scene tied Corey to the killing, the district attorney’s office said.

According to trial testimony, Corey tried to pass the baby off as her own to family and friends, the statement said.

“It’s probably the most horrific case this office has seen,” said Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. “This woman was killed for her baby.”

“There was no surprise in the sentence. It is a mandatory sentence under Massachusetts statutory law. A notice of appeal has been filed,” said Corey’s attorney, Michael C. Wilcox.

TV Star Nadejah Dies After a Long Refusal For Life Saving Treatment Due To New Cancer Rules

Nadejah Williams a tragic cancer victim who was controversially refused for life-saving treatment has passed on. She had courageously fought for life and had series of crushing blows after she was cruelly denied specialist care for her cancer treatment.

Nadejah's devastated mother, Michelle Campbell-Cairns, had raged last night; “They killed my daughter.”

The Government’s decision to hand power on cancer care to the quango NHS England last April was blamed for the shocking way 23-year-old Nadejah was treated.

Nadejah, who appeared on Channel 4 reality show Shipwrecked in 2009, was finally given the go-ahead to have pioneering CyberKnife treatment for a rare form of colon cancer after three appeals.

The treatment – which is non-invasive and more direct than other forms of radiotherapy – was denied her for months. By the time it was finally approved it was too late – her tumours had grown too big.

Nadejah – the face of the Teenage Cancer Trust – died on Saturday.

There are three CyberKnife machines in England – at the Royal Marsden, Mount Vernon and Barts, hospitals in London – and Nadejah could have been treated within days if the funding had been agreed.

In an exclusive interview with the Mirror her distraught mother, herself a cancer care nurse, sobbed: “They killed my daughter. They killed her. They have taken everything from me… my only child, my grandchildren and my future.

“If she had the CyberKnife treatment when her consultant originally asked she would be alive today.

“It’s as simple as that. The weeks and months she was kept waiting has cost her her life.”

Nadejah was refused the CyberKnife procedure because of new cancer care rules.

Fashola signs bill prohibiting smoking in in front of children and in public

CThe bill prohibiting smoking in public places has been signed into law by the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola
The new law signed, reveals that smoking in front of a person who is below the age of 18 will attract a fine of N15, 000.

It also states that first time offenders risk N10,000 fine and one to three months imprisonment while second offenders may be fined up to N50, 000 and get up to six months imprisonment.

The law, which was brought before the governor by the House of Assembly, was signed into law on Monday.

The state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ade Ipaye, while explaining the provision of the new law, said the Assembly took cognisance of the dangers posed by public smoking before it outlawed it in the interests of the general public.

“Others are public telephone kiosks, public transport vehicles, private vehicles where there are more than one person, school buses, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, amusement parks, exhibition halls, conference centres, factories and other premises in which more than one person works and areas used as places of work including the secretariat.”

The Attorney-General also explained that the new law allowed the owner of a public facility to designate smoking areas which must not be more than 10 per cent of the entire size of the place and must ensure that the smoking area was properly ventilated.

He said, “The owners also have the duty to stop smokers from infringing on the rights of the non-smokers because the owners could be criminally liable for not stopping smoking in its facility.

The new Law has warned that “Owners of facilities who fail to prohibit smoking or provide smoking site may be fined up to N100,000 or six months imprisonment or both. If the owner of the facility is a company, the fine could go up to N200, 000 and if the offences persist, it could lead to the facility being sealed off.

Miranda Barbour has confessed to murdering at least 22 people
A teenage satanist who joined with her husband to kill a man they met on Craigslist has confessed to the murders of at least 22 other people.

The 19 year old teenager said she belonged to a cult and had “stopped counting” her victims in the killing spree across four US states.

Barbour and her husband Elytte, 22, could be given the death sentence for the murder of Troy LaFerrara, who had been looking for sex on the classified advertisements website in November.

She said she had killed her first victim aged 13 after joining an Alaskan satanic cult, being taken by the leader to murder someone who owed him money.

Barbour, from, Pennsylvania, said of her victims: “When I hit 22, I stopped counting.”

Barbour said she agreed to have sex with Mr Leferrara for $100 and picked him while from a mall while Elyttte hid in the back of the car. She is accused of stabbing the 42-year-old victim 20 times while her husband wrapped a cord around his neck.

Barbour said: “He said the wrong things and then things got out of control.

“I can tell you he was not supposed to be stabbed.

“My husband was just supposed to strangle him.”

Barbour, speaking to Pennsylvania’s Daily Item newspaper from jail, also recalled her first murder.

She said: “Then he said to me that it was my turn to shoot him.

“I hate guns. I don’t use guns. I couldn’t do it, so he came behind me and he took his hands and put them on top of mine and we pulled the trigger. And then from there I just continued to kill.”

The majority of the killings happened in Alaska, but she also claimed to be able to “pinpoint” where murders happened in Texas, North Carolina and California.

He refused all medical treatment as the venom took hold on Saturday, police said.

Coots had suffered excruciating bites from rattlesnakes twice in the 1990s but survived, though the end of one finger turned purple and eventually fell off.

Snake handlers believe they are following a Biblical command in picking up snakes.

Nigeria Government facing pressure to re-open negotiations with Boko Haram

Boko Haram's increasing bombing in parts of the north, has shown severe worries and has emerged that the Federal Government may face pressure to re-open fresh negotiations with the  Islamic Sects.

It was learnt that the pressure was being mounted on the Presidency by diplomats from the European Union and America, who felt that it was too early for the Nigerian government to discontinue with dialogue with the sect, which the U.S has labelled a terrorist organisation.

A top source in the Presidency confirmed the mounting pressure from the international community on the Federal Government to open fresh talks with the sect in a bid to end the cycle of violence that had claimed many lives and property in country.

The source said: “It is true that there is renewed pressure on the Federal Government for it to reopen negotiations with the sect.
“The international community is keen on fresh negotiation because they do not believe the government should back out at his time.

The source, who did not want to be quoted, said however, that the government was feeling reluctant to go back to the negotiation table when its initial offer of amnesty was largely rebuffed by the terrorists.

Afterwards, the sect, however, stepped up its killing and maiming campaigns in the north.

11 Illegal Miners Rescued, But 200 More Still Trapped Inside in South Africa

Rescue team have saved 11 trapped gold miners from an illegal gold mine in South Africa - but there are up to 200 more trapped below ground.

The men had been stuck for more than 24 hours down the mine in Benoni, just outside Johannesburg - a city on the East Rand in Gauteng province.

The group had used makeshift rope ladders to scramble down an old ventilation shaft.

But last night other men were refusing to climb up rescuers’ steel ladders for fear of being arrested when they emerged.

Some miners told emergency services that a rival gang had dropped boulders down the shaft to trap them.

Gold-rich South Africa has repeatedly warned people against trying to dig into old mines and there are numerous tragedies.

South Africa’s Parliament has considered allowing the illegal mines to open to let people earn a living, but nobody can put up the cash to bring them up to modern safety standards.

Last month, a rare blue diamond was unearthed in a mine in South Africa. The 29.6-carat gemstone was found by Petra Diamonds at its Cullinan mine, about 25 miles north-east of the capital Pretoria.

Meet the US prisoner who escapes for Valentine date with girl friend

Prison inmate Joseph Andrew Dekenipp was determined to spend Valentine’s Day with his girlfriend. So much so that he crawled past a razor wire, scaled two fences and made his way to a restaurant about 10 miles away, according to authorities.

Joseph Dekenipp was reported missing on Friday afternoon from a fenced recreation yard at the detention center in Florence, according to the affiliate.

When inmates there returned to their residential units, Dekenipp was nowhere to be found.

Their big break came when two teens told authorities that their friend gave Dekenipp a ride to the restaurant. Deputies hightailed it to the eatery, where they found Dekenipp in a bar. And no, he wasn’t wearing his jail jumper.

Three hours after his escape, his handcuffs clinked shut again without incident. He was hauled back to Pinal County Adult Detention Center.

At the time, he was held on a $5,000 bond and had a pretrial hearing set for February 25, according to the affiliate.

Another Attack: Boko Haram kills 100 in Borno

MAIDUGURI – No fewer than 100 people were killed, weekend, in separate attacks in Baga and Izge villages of Kukawa and Gwoza Local Government Areas of Borno State by suspected members of Boko Haram sect.

The recent attack and killing by the Boko Haram have gone from bad to worse. It has obviously sent worries to all Nigerians. Leaving the impression "No one is safe".

I sincerely hope the Federal Government would hurriedly take this matter extremely serious and handle the bull by the horns. It is very necessary they exempt any sentiment and protect the lives of Nigerians.

These are human lives that have been killed not chickens. If they are going to reopen the dialogue issues, then they should do it fast. If there is another better alternative, there is no time to waste. Let they get to it as soon as possible.

Boko Haram issues threats to Cameroon over Nigeria

Boko Haram, has threatened to declare war on Cameroon if they do not cease to support Nigeria’s military campaign against them.

Boko Haram recently has been at the receiving end of a massive onslaught by the army in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.

It has been reported that some Boko Haram members have reportedly fled these attacks and were said to have relocated to safe havens in Cameroon, Niger and Chad.

However, efforts by the sect to make Cameroon a safe haven have been countered by Cameroonian troops who launch regular attacks against the fleeing militants.

A Cameroonian daily, has revealed that the leader of the sect, Imam Ibn Muhammad Abubakar, wrote to President Paul Biya recently to complain about the attacks. According to the paper, Abubakar threatened to unleash terror on the country should it continue to lend support to the Federal Government’s military campaign.

In the letter, Boko Haram, which has renewed its attacks on villages and cities in the north eastern part of Nigeria, said it had no problems with Cameroon. But it added that the situation could change soon as the Central African country was interfering in matters that did not concern it.

The letter reportedly came a day after newspapers in Cameroon reported a bloody clash between members of the sect and the Nigerian Army at Limani, a Cameroonian city.
