Unknown gunmen on Sunday abducted President Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin, Chief Inengite Nitabai in Otuoke community in Bayelsa State.
Otuoke is known to be the home town of President Goodluck Jonathan and Nitabai is the President Jonathan’s adopted father.
It was learnt that Chief Inengite Nitabai, who is the compound chief of Jonathan’s family, was abducted by 10 suspected kidnappers around 9pm on the fateful day.
The gunmen stormed the residence of the 70-year-old Chief, they met an adolescent boy, one of the victim’s children, doing his assignment. The boy quickly ran into the house out of fear to alert his father and other members of the family to his observation.
Six of the assailants forced their way into the house, the remaining four stayed outside, monitoring activities.
He said as soon as the suspected kidnappers got into the house, they ordered Nitabai, his wife, Owiya, Nitabai’s inlaw, Akinobebh Jin and three children of Nitabai, to face down.
They gunmen went away with Chief Inengite Nitabai in his Sports Utility Vehicle and and some money amounting more than N400,000 while the rest of the family members were locked inside the house.
The Vehicle has been recovered and 2 suspects have been arrested by the Joint Task Force and investigation is seriously still ongoing.
