A 17-year-old boy, Michael Ibrahim has been arrested by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, for involving in an attempt to murder a 63-year-old man, Mr. Okon Ideh.
Michael Ibrahim, who is believed to be an indigene of Mubi Local Government Area, Adamawa State, was said to have gone to Ideh’s shop on January 31, where he saw the victim open one of the drawers of his desks that contained bundles of naira notes.
In desperation to get the money, it was gathered that Ibrahim tricked Ideh to his stepfather’s house, Mr. Felix Udo, a close friend of Ideh.
The Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Mr. Pedro Ideba, said in Uyo on Monday that Ibrahim lied to Ideh that he had a customer who wanted to buy 50 bags of cement waiting for him in his step-father’s house.
Ideba said the victim, who deals in cement, accompanied Ibrahim to the house. He stated that as Ideh was waiting in the sitting room for the customer whom Ibrahim said was making use of the toilet facility, he (Ibrahim) went behind Ideh and used his mother’s towel and headgear to cover the 63-year-old man on the mouth and throat, with intention to suffocate him.
The NSCDC commander said, “On January 31, 2014, one Mr. Michael Ibrahim (17 years old), who hails from Mubi LGA of Adamawa State, was arrested for attempting to murder a man who owns a cement shop, Mr. Okon Ideh. Ibrahim’s stepfather used to send Michael to buy cement from the victim’s shop.
