An Obesed nurse who lectures patients about obesity sheds half her body weight

A 45 year old obesed Midwife Sherma Turner struggled to be taken seriously by patients when she lectured them on obesity - when she weighed 21 stone herself

Sherma is half the woman she used to be. As a midwife specialising in obesity, it was Sherma Turner’s job to lecture her patients on healthy eating.

But it was no surprise they found it difficult to take her seriously – because she weighed a huge 21 STONE.

Her size also led to constant ridicule from colleagues at Medway Hospital, Kent. But the final straw came when she was pictured in the hospital magazine and another nurse sneered: “It looks like you just ate yourself.”

That hurtful remark was the spur she needed – and, as our pictures show, it led to an extraordinary transformation. Sherma, 45, has shed a massive 10 STONE after undergoing a gastric bypass operation on the NHS.

Sherma, who is due to have a tummy tuck with Secret Surgery in Poland to remove excess skin, added: “I’m better at my job now than if I’d always been thin. I can tell patients I’ve been there, ate that. Now I’m the role model I always wanted to be.”
