It’s not bad to eat before bedtime since everybody does it, but when it comes to eating late, you should think smart. There are things that you should avoid eating before going to bed. If you eat these things before bed, you can forget about having an amazing figure, because evening food can easily add unnecessary body fat, lead to health problems and also be the cause of interrupting your sleep. If you want to avoid this nightmare, take a look at the list of the worst things you should never eat before bedtime.
1. Garri/Fufu
They are loaded with carbohydrates and one of the most calorie-dense carbohydrate sources from all. All these calories are used to accumulate mostly around the waist and stomach. That’s why, it’s recommended to keep it for another not night time.
2.Alcohol
I think it’s a false statement that if you drink a lot of alcohol you will have a good sleep. If it were true such sleep would have a drowsy and lethargic effect, and wouldn’t be regenerative and refreshing. Additionally, alcohol can lead to dehydration and disrupt the restorative sleep functions. That’s why, next time you are dreaming about a long-lasting and great sleep, do not drink before going to bed.
3. Ice cream
It’s true that ice cream has actually a double effect. First of all, it can be the best food to comfort you but still the worst one to eat when going to sleep. I can not understand sometimes how such a good thing can be so harmful? If you don’t know, ice cream contains a small amount of fat and is also rich in sugar that will really disrupt your sleep. The taste is undoubtedly comforting, but the results are absolutely awful.
4. Chips
You all probably know that chips are such kind of food that is too difficult to refuse eating. Do not eat them in the evening while watching TV, or working on the computer, etc. You know it is easy to forget about the time and to eat a lot of it. Much healthier is to snack some carrots and perhaps a little bit of almonds. You will still have a crunchy food and will be filled up quickly thanks to the fiber.
5. Red meat
It’s known that red meat contains fats and proteins, and it digests much longer than any other foods. Plus, it will keep your stomach working the entire night, which can lead to discomfort and even pain. If you want to have a great deep sleep, it is vital to keep your body at peace. It means avoid eating red meat before bedtime.
6. Bread
When you think you are too thin, eat bread every evening, but if you want to avoid weight gain, restrain yourself from eating this snack. Bread is rich in carbs and barms that lead to weight gain and long for more carbs in the future, making an unpleasant cycle. Never have some tasty buns at night to sleep better. Think about eating a little bowl of hot oats instead. It’s still a source of carbs, but will not have the same effect like bread will.
7.Pizza
We always say to ourselves that one little piece is not the end of the world, but eat in fact more than one. Truly, pizza has a large amount of calories to receive it right when preparing to sleep. This tomato sauce has too much acidity, which can lead to acid reflux, and the oily toppings can be the cause of heartburn. I am sure you do not want to wake up because of that at night!
8. Chocolate
Unfortunately, chocolate does not only contain a higher amount of fat and sugar than any other evening snacks, but it also has caffeine. Plus, it’s rich in stimulants like theobromine that is famous for accelerating your pulse. Consequently, chocolate can disrupt your sleep and keep you up the whole night. People who do not sleep much usually suffer from enlarged levels of cortisol, which can breakdown the muscle tissue.
9. Coffee
Either fun coffee drink, coffee flavored candy, java chip ice cream, or something including coffee before sleep will definitely keep you up. But if you managed to fall asleep somehow, be sure to wake up at night due to the caffeine fluctuations in your organism. Do not drink coffee in the evening at any cost for having a deep and long-lasting sleep.
10. Too much fruit
Most people think it’s a good idea to eat fruit before bed, and I am not actually thinking a little bit is bad. But a very large amount of it, though, contains lots of sugar that causes gas the whole night since its ferments on top of other foods in the bowel. You won’t only have cramping, but it’s also very hard on your digestion. You can have a small serving and find out how you feel, and do not eat more than a cup for one time.
11. Cereal
One more thing you shouldn’t eat at night if you want to have a nice figure is cereal. It’s very difficult to eat just once, which is only 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup. In the evening, it’s so calming to have, but from my own experience, one portion turns into two, then three, and when you pay attention to it, you can end eating the whole box! Never eat cereal before sleep but if you really need to buy it, have in the morning, and only eat one portion.

12. Butter
Keep in mind that eating butter, almond butter, peanut butter or any other nut butter late in the evening can lead to fast weight gain, especially if you do it daily. Never eat nut butter before bedtime! It’s better to drink a big cup of milk or unsweetened almond milk instead. You will be calmer and sleep better because of the calcium, which will also save you from fatigue.
