The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 25 year old man, Mr Mishack Osuala who is alleged to be the prime suspect behind the murder of his uncle, a Customs officer, Mr Mishack Ugwuoha.
Mr Ugwuoha, an Assistant Comptroller in the Customs was killed few months ago in his country home at Umuchoke Amaigbo, Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State.
Parading the suspect at the Police Command Headquarters in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the Imo State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Katsina, told newsmen that his arrest followed an intelligence report gathered from strategic partners who have been keeping an eye on the suspect since the murder of the customs officer.
Making an open confession, the suspect claimed that it was not their intention to kill the Customs officer but was forced to when his late uncle tried to break away.
The police boss also paraded over 30 suspected criminals for various crimes, ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, gun running amongst other crimes. He said that the arrests were as a result of the success of “Operation PUFADA” launched in the early weeks of September to reduce the high level of crimes especially during the ember months.
He added that the Police are hotly on the heels of one Okechukwu Uzoma, a 30 year old native of Umuchoke Amaigbo, Nwagele LGA, the last but fleeing member of the armed robbery gang who is wanted for murder. He appealed to the members of the public with any useful information that can lead to his arrest to contact the Police.
