Gbadamosi murdered over quarrel for chicken ownership

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two men over the murder of one Gbadamosi Tabra, who was killed in the Epe area of the state.

According to Police authorities, Gbadamosi was killed following a disagreement over the ownership of two chickens.

Report follows that trouble started after Gbadamosi and three others, Musa Sumaila, Usman Garuba and one Yahaya; had a misunderstanding over the chickens. It was learnt that the argument led to a brawl. Gbadamosi got injured and was later rushed to the Epe General Hospital where he was declared dead.

It was learnt that due to the nature of the case, the doctor on duty informed the Divisional Police Officer, Epe Division, who then sent his men to the hospital.

Sumaila and Garuba were said to have been arrested immediately, while Yahaya fled

Following Gbadamosi’s death, some of his relatives protested and demanded that his body be released to them so he could be immediately buried according to Islamic rites.

A police source said, “Most times, when there is any death, especially one resulting from murder, it is the duty of the hospital to keep the corpse in the mortuary after which an autopsy will be conducted.

“However, Gbadamosi’s colleagues, who are all Northern Muslims, demanded that the corpse must be given to them or they would wreak havoc. That was why the hospital called us.”

Tarba died before doctors could even attend to him. Two of the men were arrested while the third, one Yahaya, escaped. The matter will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for further investigation.”

Braide said normalcy had been restored in the area.
