A Prince in Kwara murdered by a hired assassin

Ismail Atanda, The eldest son of Oluganna, Oba Kolawole Atanda, a traditional ruler in Ganmo community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State was shot dead by a suspected assassin on sunday.

Though, the identity of the assailant is yet unknow, it is suspected that the murderer might be one of the opponents of the monarch.

It was learnt that the assassin shot at Prince Ismail Atanda while he was driving his car along a street leading to his father’s palace at about 6.30pm on Sunday. It was reported that the gunshot hit the deceased in a side of his face, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, and the vehicle consequently somersaulted many times.

Ismail Atanda immediately taken to a private hospital, where he died the following day Monday morning in that hospital.

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Agboola Oshodi-Glover was said to have deployed some policemen in the area to ensure safety of the area while investigation concerned with the attack is on going.
