Manchester United top two strikers Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie will not be playing when they visit Stamford bridge on Sunday.
Robin Van Persie, who has played only two matches since November 10, is still yet to return to training probably until next week – by which time Manchester United could be 14 points off top spot in the Premier League.
Wayne Rooney also is back in England following warm-weather training, but his groin injury has not healed completely in time for the weekend match.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of Sunday’s trip to London, Moyes said: “Wayne’s come back fresh but not ready for Chelsea.
“He’s doing some running and looking good. He’s had a break, done some strengthening work on his groin. Hopefully he’ll benefit, but not for this game.”
Manchester United fans will really feel disappointed about this. But with players like Danny Welback and Chicharito around, a lot can still be done. Welback has been super in form this season and has solidly built his confidence.
