Malam Umaru Ladan, a veteran journalist popularly known as “Olu,” died in Zaria on Sunday at the age of 63.
Malam Umaru Ladan was said to have started his journalism career in the late 70s and worked with the defunct National Concord, Amana, Linzami and Reporter newspapers.
One of the brothers of the deceased, Ciroman Shantalin Zazzau, Alhaji Ababukar Ladan, confirmed the death to NAN in Zaria.
Ciroman said his brother died during a brief illness in Zaria, Kaduna State at about 6p.m. on Sunday.
He also said the deceased was an honest and humble individual.
The late Malam Umaru Laden is survived by a wife and four children.
Ladan had since been buried according to Islamic rites in his home town, Zaria, same Sunday Jan. 26, at about 8p.m. Many mourners were reported to be present while the deceased was laid to rest.
