1 Police Officer, 2 Robbers Killed In Kogi Bank Robbery



A team of armed robbers on Friday attacked two generation banks in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi state.

While briefing journalists on the situation in his office at the police headquarters in Lokoja, the state Commissioner of Police, Sa’idu Madawaki, stated that unidentified gunmen in large numbers attacked First Bank and Main Street Bank both in Kabba simultaneously using am Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to gain access to both banks.

He noted that policemen on duty at the Area Command Office and Divisional Police Headquarters Kabba mobilized and attacked the hoodlums.

The police boss said unspecified amount of money was carted away from Main-Street Bank but the robbers could not succeed at First Bank due to fierce encounter from the police officers.

Madawaki noted that during the fierce gun battle, two of the robbers were shot dead, while three policemen were injured.

A constable, Tanko Paul, was killed.

He further stated that two armed robbery suspects were arrested and the vehicle used by the armed robbers was recovered as the robbers abandoned the vehicle and escaped with bullet wounds.
